Good morning and welcome back to another edition of he Red Seat podcast. This week Keaton and I are back together for the first time since early August to discuss the latest happenings with the team. Where to begin? How about with the depleted roster. COVID is ravaging the Red Sox clubhouse right now infecting new players and coaches seemingly everyday https://www.redsoxstoreonline.com/307-tim_wakefield_jersey. On this podcast we discuss how the Red Sox will look to manage this problem with Matt Barnes, Martin Prez, Kik Hernandez, and Christian Arroyo out of the lineup. After we recorded the show we also learned about Josh Taylor, so he was not discussed. We also spend some time looking back at the last three series wins. Although series wins are welcome and certainly a positive trend why did these series feel like the team had to fight and claw their way to each victory? Is there something fundamentally wrong with the roster that is causing them to struggle to eke out wins vs below average teams? As the calendar turns to September the Red Sox are sitting at around an 80% chance to make the playoffs per FanGraphs. Why does it feel like about half that percentage while we are watching the team? Keaton and I discuss our confidence levels about the team holding off Oakland and others for the final wildcard spot. I also decide to go on a rant about how it okay to both like the overall job that Chaim Bloom has done since joining the team https://www.redsoxstoreonline.com/558-oscar_rangel_jersey, but still be critical of what he did/didn't do at the trade deadline.Lastly, we answered a bunch of your listener questions before ending the show.We hope you enjoyed the show and if you did, make sure you subscribe to us on iTunes, Google Podcast, Spotify, or Stitcher. Also give the show a review. Five star reviews help us get in more ears and grow the show.
